Job Title: Lifeguard -

Seeking hard working certified & experienced lifeguards who are looking for a fun and exciting place to work.

JOB SUMMARY: A Lifeguard employed with Porters Neck Country Club is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of the members and their guests using Porters Neck swimming pool. A Lifeguard’s major responsibility is to observe swimmers and enforce regulations in the guarding of life and the prevention of accidents at the Club. You must be available to work weekends between the hours of 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM. If interested please fill out an application.

1. Monitor activities at the pool to prevent accidents.
2. Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning.
3. Administer First Aid.
4. Caution swimmers regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards; enforces and adheres to pool rules and regulations in a professional, friendly and helpful manner.
5. Follow emergency action plan and procedures established in the event of an emergency.
6. Maintain order in the pool and adjoining areas.
7. Inspect facilities for cleanliness; complete general pool cleaning and maintenance duties.
8. Provide general information on pool operation to members.
9. Teach swimming lessons.
10. Screen patrons upon entrance to facility (to ensure membership, membership association, supervision, etc.) and testing swim skills as necessary.
11. Maintain an acceptable appearance and attitude at all times. The following uniform is required for men: swim suit and whistle, issued PNCC shirt to be worn with khaki shorts. For women: swim suit and whistle, issued PNCC shirt to be worn with khaki shorts.
12. Maintain a high standard of customer service, extending exemplary service to all members and their guests, including promotion of aquatic programs, such as swim team and swim lessons.

13. Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
14. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
15. To maintain attendance and activity record and complete required reports.
16. To provide periodic supervision and custodial needs of locker rooms.
17. To take guest fees, register members and their guests, and provide wristbands for non-swimmers.

Less than high school with 6 months to 1 year experience directly related to the essential duties and responsibilities specified. CPR Certified; Current certification as Lifeguard by the American Red Cross. Candidates must be available mid-May through September. With possible training days in April.

• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
• Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
• Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
• Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
